John Pont (1956-1962) led Miami to a 43-22-2 record with three conference championships. Pont later coached at Yale, Indiana, and Northwestern.

Bo Schembechler (1963-1968) led Miami to a 40-17-4 record with one conference championship. He would later coach Michigan for 21 seasons and is a member of the NCAA Hall of Fame.

Bill Mallory (1969-1973) went 39-12-0 at Miami including an undefeated season in 1973. He later coached at Colorado, Northern Illinois and Indiana.
