NAWPA hopes to identify playwrights, collect and preserve their work, try to make it widely known, and encourage performances and continued creativity.\u00a0 This collection includes manuscripts and plays as well as production materials such as programs, posters, flyers, photographs, correspondence, articles, and audio visual materials.\u00a0 The collection also includes materials relating to the archives such as correspondence and administrative documents, as well as materials relating to conferences and events sponsored by the archive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/promo-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-5687\" alt=\"promo 3\" src=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/promo-3-719x1024.jpg\" width=\"269\" height=\"383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/promo-3-719x1024.jpg 719w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/promo-3-210x300.jpg 210w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/promo-3.jpg 970w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 269px) 100vw, 269px\" \/><\/a>NAWPA also serves as a repository for Spiderwoman Theater.\u00a0Spiderwoman Theater is the country\u2019s longest running women\u2019s performance group, founded in 1976 by Lisa Mayo, Gloria Miguel, and Muriel Miguel, three Native American sisters of Rappahannock and Kuna heritage.\u00a0 The group has included various other performers throughout its history, most notably the Colorado sisters.\u00a0 Spiderwoman Theater has held workshops and residencies as well as performances in venues and festivals all over the world.\u00a0 The group uses a specific working technique they call storyweaving, which is \u201ccreating designs and weaving stories with words and movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5686\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/lysistrata-all.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5686\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5686\" alt=\"Three different promotional flyers for &quot;Lysistrata Numbah!&quot;\" src=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/lysistrata-all-1024x463.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/lysistrata-all-1024x463.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/lysistrata-all-300x135.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5686\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Three different promotional flyers for &#8220;Lysistrata Numbah!&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The archive houses many original Spiderwoman Theater materials including histories and biographies of the group and its members, articles and interviews. The archive is also home to a large collection of photographs, including photographs of performances and appearances, as well as childhood and family photographs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/yellow.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5692 aligncenter\" alt=\"yellow\" src=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/yellow-781x1024.jpg\" width=\"314\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/yellow-781x1024.jpg 781w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/yellow.jpg 1432w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 314px) 100vw, 314px\" \/><\/a>In addition, the archive houses various plays written and performed by Spiderwoman Theater including <i>Women in Violence; The Lysistrata Numbah; Winnetou\u2019s Snake Oil Show From Wigwam City; Cabaret:\u00a0 An Evening of Disgusting Songs and Pukey Images; <\/i>and<i> Sun, Moon, and Feathers, <\/i>as well as many others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/cabaret.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-5683\" alt=\"cabaret\" src=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/cabaret-777x1024.jpg\" width=\"338\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/cabaret-777x1024.jpg 777w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/cabaret-227x300.jpg 227w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/cabaret.jpg 1646w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/><\/a>Most of the Spiderwoman Theater manuscripts found in the archive do not contain the plays in their entirety, but are rather a collection of bits and pieces scattered throughout the hand written partial scripts and working personal notebooks of the group.\u00a0 The collection also contains materials relating to the various plays, including promotional materials and posters, programs from different performances, production photographs, articles\/reviews, and several taped performances.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-5691\" alt=\"women and violence\" src=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence-800x1024.jpg\" width=\"384\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence-800x1024.jpg 800w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence-234x300.jpg 234w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence.jpg 1697w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><\/a>Included in the archive are materials relating to festivals and events in which Spiderwoman Theater participated, such as Festival of Fools, Festival Mondial du Theatre, and Humora.\u00a0 These materials include programs, posters, and articles\/reviews.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-5690\" alt=\"women and violence 2\" src=\"http:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence-2-1024x814.jpg\" width=\"576\" height=\"457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence-2-1024x814.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence-2-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/spec.lib.miamioh.edu\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/women-and-violence-2.jpg 1880w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/a>The collection also houses a few materials relating to individual works and performances by members of Spiderwoman Theater, including items such as a program from a performance of <i>Grandma and Grandpa<\/i> directed by Muriel Miguel, and a flyer for a performance of <em>Lizzie &amp;
