Originally prompted by Charles DArwin’s 200th birthday, the installation began in 2009 with 25 petri dishes filled with small compositions made by myself and gallery visitors. The cells grew to include 52 petri dish compositions that include variations on specimens and book forms, each its own sample of or musing on the natural or theorized world.”
