In observance of Black History Month, Dr. Zeb Baker, author and Senior Associate Director of the University Honor Program will present Miami University and the Politics of Athletic Non-discrimination. Thursday, February 9, 2017, King Library 320 at 7:00 pm.
In March 1947, Miami’s student body voted into place a non-discrimination policy in athletics, which prevented scheduling opponents that practiced segregation. The policy was the first of its kind in the Midwest and its stresses and strains played a defining role in Miami race relations for decades.
